James Purcell presents the JP Soul Show
James grew up in Rochester, before moving deeper into Kent first arriving in the market town of Faversham, then landing in the beautiful city of Canterbury - famous for its cathedral, culture and Chaucer's Canterbury Tales!
James found his calling in 2012 when he joined fledgling band The Revelations with a myriad of talented musicians from the Medway Towns. He then fronted the Sittingbourne-based Loose Change Showband for over ten years, until 2023, and became well-known for his high-energy performances of classic hits by The Blues Brothers, The Commitments, Joe Cocker, Madness, Otis Redding & Wilson Pickett to name but a few.
He now brings this same enthusiasm and energy to his solo* show, available to book from 2024, featuring classic soul, r&b & blues songs from across the decades plus a few classics thrown in for good measure!

I'm finally at a point where I don't get depressed for the whole weekend because I'm not gigging. I think this phase is 'acceptance'
I'm lucky enough to not *need* to gig to put a roof over my head, support my family and generally get by from day to day, but there are many who do, and for musicians and other performers, this lockdown isn't over yet, so please do support them in whatever ways you can.
And to my @loosechangekent colleagues, I hope to see you before too much longer, and we can make that sweet sweet soul music once more!
